2. Next, fill a pot with enough water to cover the bottom but not touch the steamer. Place the pot on the cooker and bring the water to a boil.
3. Once the water is boiling, place your vegetables in the steamer basket. Be sure not to overcrowd the basket so that the steam can circulate evenly.
4. Place the steamer basket inside the pot, making sure it rests securely on the rim.
5. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and let the vegetables steam for 5-10 minutes, depending on the type of vegetable and how tender you like them.
